All Star Game
What a game. Was it over hyped? Hell Yes. Did it have the impact on San Francisco and the Giants that everyone was counting on? Probably not. Are the Giants still going to finish below .500 this season? You better believe it. Would I go again next time San Francisco hosts an event like this? FUCK YES. Hers a quick rundown~There was a pretty touching tribute to Willie Mays before the game, a big dumb drunk guy in my row passed out in the bottom of the 3rd, Bonds had a very lackluster night {aside from a standing ovation when introduced} and went 0-2, Ichiro hit an inside the park home run, {first in All-Star Game history} Alfonso Soriano homered with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, and the A.L.Pitchers loaded the bases with three walks AFTER Soriano's home run. I was glued to my seat for every inning. {except, of course, for a few quick beer runs}. It's no surprise that the American League is still a much better League, but at least the N.L made it interesting this year. I could go on and on, but I figure the only people really interested probably watched the game.
So, with all that being said, I'd have to say that the whole San Francisco All-Star experience was pretty damn cool. After filtering out all the commercialization, tourists, morons, congestion, and inflated prices that I encountered these last few days, I walked into AT&T Park tonight and realized that the only thing that really mattered to me was BASEBALL.
